The Decision to Keep Going
Weekly Theme: Choosing to Overcome
Scripture:
John 6:66–69 (NLT)
"At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, 'Are you also going to leave?' Simon Peter replied, 'Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.'"
Devotion
There are moments in every believer’s journey where continuing feels harder than quitting.
Jesus had just spoken difficult truths. The crowd didn’t cheer—they left. Many who once followed Him closely now chose comfort over commitment. The cost was too high. The call was too deep.
And still, Jesus turned and asked His disciples: “Are you going to leave too?”
That same question echoes through the Church today. Not just for us—but for so many who once walked with God and now feel burned out, betrayed, disappointed, or numb.
Today, we stand in the gap for those who have turned back—those who were once faithful in prayer, passionate in worship, committed in service—but somewhere along the way, the fire dimmed. Some were wounded. Others were just worn down. Some grew distracted. Others grew disillusioned.
But here’s the good news: Jesus hasn’t turned away from them. He’s still asking, still inviting, still waiting.
Let’s pray them home.
Prayer Focus
Intercede for those who have walked away from the faith, especially in our own families and church community.
Pray for those who still believe but are spiritually tired and silently fading.
Ask the Lord to rekindle the resolve of Simon Peter in the hearts of believers: “Where else would we go? You alone have the words of life.”
Declare healing, restoration, and renewed fire in the hearts of the weary.
Declaration
Lord, we choose to stay—even when it’s hard.
We call back those who have walked away.
Let there be a great return of the weary, the wounded, and the waiting.
To whom else would we go? Only You have the words of life.
