Equipping the Saints: Altar Ministry Training at Harvest Revival Center

Harvest Revival Center is excited to announce a two-week Altar Ministry training class aimed at equipping individuals to effectively pray for those seeking God at the altar. This series will provide foundational teaching and practical skills for anyone desiring to serve in this powerful ministry of prayer, healing, and spiritual care. The training will be led by Pastor Steve Boehmfeldt and Pastor Niel Petersen and will take place on the following dates:

  • Sunday, October 20th @ 1:00 PM

  • Sunday, October 27th @ 1:00 PM

The training will conclude with a special Healing Service on Sunday, November 10th.

For those attending from Harvest Revival Center, we will gather immediately after service in the cafe to eat and fellowship together before beginning the training each Sunday. If you do not attend Harvest Revival Center, you are still welcome to join us for lunch around 12:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to connect with others and share in community before diving into the lessons.

Week 1: Introduction to Altar Ministry and Practical Guidelines

Part 1: Understanding the Role of Altar Workers

  • Introduction: Discuss the purpose of altar ministry and the unique calling of altar workers.

  • Qualifications: Cover the essential qualities—Spirit-filled life, spiritual maturity, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

  • Spiritual Foundation: Emphasize the importance of a strong prayer life, maintaining confidentiality, and having a heart to serve.

Part 2: Practical Guidelines for Altar Ministry

  • Etiquette: Teach practical points like maintaining respectful behavior, obtaining permission before physical touch (like anointing with oil), and being mindful of body language.

  • Engagement: Focus on listening skills, discernment in prayer, and guiding individuals toward a deeper connection with God.

  • Boundaries: Highlight the importance of maintaining proper boundaries when praying for the opposite gender and avoiding inappropriate contact.

Week 2: Healing Prayers, Empowerment by the Holy Spirit, and Practical Demonstrations

Part 1: Healing Prayers

  • Biblical Foundation: Introduce the concept of healing prayers grounded in Scripture, with an emphasis on physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

  • Faith in Prayer: Encourage participants to pray in faith for healing while depending on God's will.

Part 2: Empowerment of the Holy Spirit

  • Spiritual Gifts: Discuss the role of the Holy Spirit, covering the gifts of the Spirit, such as prophecy, tongues, and discerning of spirits.

  • Practical Demonstration: Conclude with a hands-on session where participants practice healing prayers and learn to create a space for the Holy Spirit to move.

Key Scriptures and Tools for Ministry

Throughout the training, participants will be equipped with powerful tools, including the Ephesians prayer, which serves as a profound scriptural guide for intercession. Furthermore, altar workers will learn how to use declarations of God’s promises to strengthen their faith and effectively minister to others.
