Rise Like Eagles🦅

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint."

Devotion

On the way to church yesterday morning, I saw something I’ve never seen in all my years in Ohio—a bald eagle, just a half mile from our church on Johnsville Brookville Road. It was in a field feeding on a carcass.

I’ve lived here since 1998 and never witnessed anything like it. In that moment, I knew it wasn’t just a coincidence—it felt significant. It was as if the Lord was drawing attention to something in the Spirit.

As we begin this week’s prayer focus, we’re leaning into what it means to rise like eagles—both personally and corporately as a church. God is calling us to soar higher. To break free from spiritual fatigue. To rise above distractions, discouragement, and delay. And to step into the strength and clarity that only comes from trusting in Him.

The Biblical Symbolism of Eagles

Throughout Scripture, eagles are mentioned in both positive and warning contexts:

âś… Positive Symbolism

  • Strength & Renewal – Isaiah 40:31 shows those who trust God will soar like eagles.

  • Protection & Care – Deuteronomy 32:11 describes God’s nurturing care like an eagle with its young.

  • Vision & Discernment – Job 39:29 speaks of the eagle’s sharp sight—symbolizing spiritual clarity.

  • Heavenly Worship – Revelation 4:7 includes a living creature with the face of an eagle around God's throne.

  • Restoration – Psalm 103:5 connects the eagle with youthful renewal and fresh strength.

⚠️ Warning Symbolism

  • Pride & Self-reliance – Obadiah 1:4 warns that soaring in pride leads to downfall.

  • Agents of Judgment – Deuteronomy 28:49 uses the eagle to describe swift judgment from enemy nations.

  • Devouring – Habakkuk 1:8 describes the eagle as swift and eager to consume, representing destruction.

  • False Security – Jeremiah 49:16 warns of trusting in high places rather than in God.

Eagles can represent both strength and warning. The difference is whether we are soaring in God’s strength and direction, or trying to elevate ourselves apart from Him.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for personal and corporate renewal—that Harvest Revival Center would rise with new strength.

  • Ask God to lift us out of spiritual weariness and into fresh dependence on Him.

  • Pray that we would receive eagle-like clarity and endurance for the days ahead.

Declaration

We will soar high on wings like eagles.
We rise not by effort, but by trust.
We are being renewed by His strength—body, mind, and spirit.
Harvest is rising.
