Made for More: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life
We live in a world searching for identity and purpose. People chase after fulfillment, joy, and peace, often looking in the wrong places. The truth is, every human heart is designed to find purpose in God alone. In our recent gathering, we explored this life-changing truth: you were made for more.
Whether you're battling fear, struggling with direction, or simply feeling unfulfilled, God has a plan for your life. In this blog, we’ll outline seven foundational steps to discovering and living out God’s purpose, as well as share a practical challenge to seek a word from God for the upcoming year.
The Core Truth: Purpose Changes Everything
Psalm 57:2 says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.”
This verse reminds us that God not only has a purpose for our lives, but He is faithful to fulfill it. When we align ourselves with His will, everything changes:
Fear turns to faith.
Confusion turns to clarity.
Frustration turns to fulfillment.
David, the shepherd-turned-king, didn’t always understand his journey, yet he trusted God in every season. The same is true for us: discovering and living in God’s purpose gives our lives direction and meaning.
7 Steps to Living Out God’s Purpose
Here are seven practical steps rooted in Scripture that will help you walk in your God-given purpose:
Believe in God
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
Purpose begins when we place our faith in Jesus. Without Him, we cannot fully step into the life we were created to live.Seek First the Kingdom
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Make God your top priority. Pursue His kingdom and trust that everything else will fall into place.Be Transformed
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
Let God’s Word renew your thoughts and actions. Transformation starts with a surrendered heart.Bear Fruit
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit.” (John 15:16)
When we live in purpose, our lives produce godly fruit—impacting those around us for Christ.Be Holy
“But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” (1 Peter 1:15)
God calls us to live set apart, walking in purity and reflecting His character to the world.Glorify Him
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Every action, big or small, should point back to God’s glory.Make Disciples
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
Our ultimate purpose as believers is to share the gospel and help others follow Jesus.
These seven steps provide a roadmap for living with intention and pursuing God’s greater plan.
A Practical Challenge: Find Your Word for 2025
In the message, we introduced a powerful challenge: ask God for one word to focus on in 2025.
This word will serve as a spiritual guidepost—a theme for growth, transformation, and purpose in the coming year. Whether it’s discipline, trust, impact, or something else, take time to pray, reflect, and seek the Lord for what He wants to highlight in your life.
The Importance of Intentionality
God works in seasons, and each season has a purpose. When we approach life with intentionality, asking God for direction and focus, He reveals His plan in powerful ways.
Here are a few practical steps to help you discover your word:
Pray – Ask God to speak clearly to your heart.
Reflect – Identify your passions, strengths, and areas where God may be stretching you.
Listen – Be sensitive to how God may highlight this word—through Scripture, prayer, or everyday moments.
Write it Down – Declare it boldly and keep it in front of you throughout the year.
At Harvest Revival Center, we are encouraging our congregation to share their word for 2025. We’ll write them on a board as a collective reminder of what God is doing in each of our lives.
Closing Thought
You were made for more. God has uniquely created you for a purpose that will glorify Him and bless others. Take the time to seek Him, trust His plan, and live with intentionality.
As we step into 2025, let’s pursue God’s purpose together—believing that He who began a good work in us will carry it to completion.
